Seawater Solutions

Seawater Solutions is reforesting 2,620 hectares in the Anlo-Keta Lagoon Complex region of Ghana, where climate change and sea level rise threaten to devastate mangrove habitats. The project includes a regenerative aquaculture program that will establish fishing ponds for near-term income, restoring food security and livelihoods. This blue carbon project is a winner of the Great Blue Wall Challenge, part of Africa's Great Blue Wall Initiative.

Terraformation has supported the organization in establishing two native tree nurseries and planting 100,000 trees, with the goal of planting 200,000 in total.

Since March 2022, Seawater Solutions has employed 60 community members in its restoration efforts — 90% of whom are women.
