Sembrando Futuro 2.0 aims to restore Andean forests near three Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) in the Antioquia region. These rehabilitated ecosystems will restore crucial wildlife habitats, connect migration routes, and protect biodiversity.
Co-benefits include creating sustainable jobs for the community, agroforestry programs, a center for research and education, and a large-scale nursery for native species.
“As the first native-species-only restoration initiative in Colombia to be certified under the latest Verra VM0047 methodology, it defines a new standard for high-quality, nature-based carbon removals in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.”
— Marcela Tapias Gálvez, Program Manager at Terraformation

A 99,012 m² nursery will support large-scale reforestation through advanced seed germination and native plant cultivation, producing 500,000 plants annually.

Verra sets the world’s leading standards for climate action and sustainable development. The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) is the most widely used GHG crediting program. The Climate, Community & Biodiversity Standard (CCB) indicates that a project mitigates climate change, supports local communities, and protects vulnerable species.
