Terraformation is committed to expanding the global reforestation movement: bringing together people, organizations, and communities to share knowledge, mobilize funding, and inspire action. We connect practitioners, scientists, governments, funders, businesses, change-agents, and storytellers to strengthen the case for bringing native forests back to life and provide the infrastructure to collaborate at scale.

How We Support
Terraformation strengthens local restoration organizations through technical training, operational support and catalytic funding. Since 2023, we have trained over 20 organizations and are ready to partner with forestry organizations and governments to take on ambitious new native forest restoration projects.
Technical Training
With over 3,000 hours of training delivered to more than 20 organizations, our Seed to Forest Accelerator builds practical expertise in native seed collection, seed storage, nursery operations, restoration ecology, project planning, and organizational readiness.
Expert Support
Our foresters, scientists, technologists, carbon specialists, and finance experts work alongside local teams to assess feasibility, solve implementation challenges, and strengthen projects from design through delivery.
Catalytic Funding
We help secure early-stage funding that de-risks projects during the critical pre-planting phase. This bridges a critical finance gap, allowing projects to move forward earlier and setting the stage to meet commercial capital expectations later.

Carbon Projects
Much of our direct restoration work is developed as carbon projects.
We assess each opportunity for sequestration potential, baselines, additionality, permanence, and risk. If feasible, we work with local forestry organizations and communities to build the governance, technical, and financing structures needed for long-term implementation. We are developing three carbon projects aligned with Verra’s VM0033 and VM0047 methodologies.
Reforestation projects operate on long timelines and require blended finance structures throughout their lifetimes and across different stages of development.
At Terraformation, we provide early-stage funding and convene the financial partners needed to support carbon projects through every stage.
Non-Carbon Projects
Much of our non-carbon efforts are focused on Hawaiʻi.
In Hawai’i we directly restore native landscapes while testing new approaches, tools, and infrastructure that can strengthen restoration efforts worldwide. Across the islands we are bringing back some of the world’s most biodiverse and threatened ecosystems using non-carbon funding pathways across six active projects.
